Charities

The British Crown Green Bowling Association are proud supporters of the Motor Neurone Disease charity, The Mel Evans Foundation.

Mel Evans MBE was responsible for bringing the game of Crown Green Bowls to TV screens in the 1980’s. The Mel Evans MBE Foundation was formally and legally approved by The Charities Commission in August 2019. The objectives of the Foundation are to raise awareness and funds for the disease.

Honours

The British Crown Green Bowling Association has an annually approved President and Ladies President. There are also Deputies for both roles in a calendar year. The Honours section contains the current Presidents messages for the coming season, who has held these posts and the rota for the future presidents of the association.

It also contains details of the governing bodies Patron and their Life Members who have obtained that honour through work and dedication to the sport.

History

Bowls is one of the oldest organised sports in the world, with a history that stretches back over two millennia. Played in various forms across continents and cultures, it has endured through dramatic social, political and technological change.

From ancient stone rolling to the finely tuned modern sport, bowls reflects not only athletic skill but also the communities, traditions, and values of the societies in which it developed.

Recruitment within Bowls

Are you looking to work within a sports governing body or one of its partners?

This is where the BCGBA posts job opportunities within its organisation.

We will also share similar opportunities within the bowling community, including the Bowls Development Alliance, Coach Bowls and the other bowls governing bodies.
