Introduction:
As the governing body of Crown Green Bowls, the British Crown Green Bowling Association has several policy documents as set out in their Bye Laws in order to promote and maintain good governance of the sport.
To ensure complete transparency from the governing body, all policies, procedures, rules, strategy and club guidance documents can be found online.
Queries on these documents can be sent to the member of the association responsible for that area. Responsibility explanation can be found within the Governance section of the website. Alternatively you can send queries direct to the BCGBA’s CEO – dan.newton@bcgba.org.uk
The British Crown Green Bowling Association Bye Laws define the name, the objectives, the policies and governance model of the organisation.
At a high level they define principles and process on finance, safeguarding, competitions, rule amendments, misconduct, development and dissolution.
Bye Laws can only be amended annually at the Rules Revision Meeting and in accordance with the process defined in the Bye Laws themselves.
Queries on the Bye Laws can be sent to National Administration at admin@bcgba.org.uk
The BCGBA Membership Policy defines individual, club, league, association and county requirements to be and maintain membership of the British Crown Green Bowls Association.
This includes the minimum requirements for individuals, clubs and organisations to meet, such as player record keeping, requirements for insurance cover, mandatory fees and the timeframes for completion of tasks and fees within an annual period.
Membership Policies are at the discretion of the BCGBA Board.
This Policy is currently under review by the BCGBA Board & Executive.
The BCGBA join the other bowls governing bodies via The Bowls Development Alliance (BDA) to create a single Equality, Diversity & Inclusion plan.
We are committed to ensuring that bowls is an inclusive, welcoming and accessible sport for everyone.
This Diversity & Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) outlines our priority areas of focus for advancing equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across the organisations and the wider bowls community.
This public-facing DIAP is published in line with Requirement 2.2c of ‘A Code for Sports Governance’.
It is underpinned by a detailed internal DIAP, which includes specific actions, responsibilities, timescales and measures. That internal plan is reviewed regularly by the BDA Board and shared with Sport England.
The BCGBA join the other bowls governing bodies via The Bowls Development Alliance (BDA) to create a unified approach to Safeguarding.
Policies, Templates, Guidance & News Bulletins can be found on the Club Information Safeguarding page along with a Roadmap of Safeguarding actions & recommendations to help a club through this subject.
However, the BCGBA Board feel that a set of policies specifically for Crown Green Bowls would be beneficial. This is currently under review.
Queries on the current Policies can be sent to safeguarding@bcgba.org.uk
Crown Green Bowling is a sport suitable for the widest range of individuals – young and old, male, and female, able-bodied and disadvantaged.
However, in order to maximise the benefits and opportunities available, then the BCGBA expect the highest standards of conduct from all those involved – players, spectators and administrators.
This document sets out the rights and expectations of the conduct of all essentially-involved parties.
The Disciplinary Policy defines process and guidance for running disciplinary procedures, a standardised guide for punishment and process and timeframes for appeal hearings.
This policy is currently under review by the BCGBA Board & Executive.
This statement is issued in accordance with the BCGBA’s Bye-Law to confirm that appropriate Human Resources (HR) arrangements are in place.
The organisation employs staff to support its operations and maintains internal HR policies and procedures for the proper management of employment matters. These arrangements are intended to ensure that staff are managed fairly and consistently and that employment practices meet legal requirements and accepted standards.
The Board retains discretion to introduce, amend, or withdraw internal HR policies and procedures as necessary to support effective governance and legal compliance.
