The Strategy includes eight key elements to help you succeed:

What’s exciting is that the Strategy encourages collaboration and shared knowledge. You’ll join a network of Clubs all working toward similar goals, with support available every step of the way. Ready to take your Club to the next level? The BCGBA National Development Strategy is the perfect place to start.

Governance

Good governance is the foundation of any successful Club, ensuring everything runs smoothly, fairly, and transparently. Achieving this starts with setting clear rules, roles, and responsibilities so everyone understands their part in decision making. It also involves strong leadership, financial accountability, and treating all members fairly and respectfully. To ensure good governance, Clubs need the right tools and resources to help Committees and members understand their roles and the importance of decisions that benefit the entire Club. We’re here to support Clubs in developing effective governance practices and building a strong foundation for success.

Club Development Plan

A clear plan is essential for guiding a Club’s growth and success, and the creation of a Club Development Plan also helps Clubs improve facilities and increase their community impact. The creation of this starts with setting clear goals and identifying the necessary resources and support. A well-crafted plan gives your Club focus and direction, ensuring decisions align with the long-term vision. We are here to support you with guidance and tools to develop a plan that works for your Club.

Let us help you create a successful strategy for growth and success.

Juniors

Introducing young bowlers to Crown Green Bowls is crucial for the future of our sport. The Junior Development Plan focuses on creating opportunities for young players to get involved, ensuring the sport thrives for years to come. This starts with making the sport accessible, fun, and engaging for youth. Clubs play a key role in providing welcoming environments for juniors, and with the right support, we can develop a new generation of bowlers. The National Development Strategy aims to support Clubs with resources to help them to nurture talent. We’re excited to guide Clubs in building vibrant junior programs to shape the future of Crown Green Bowls.

Inclusion

Crown Green Bowls is an inclusive sport that welcomes participants of all ages, genders, backgrounds, and abilities. Whether you’re experienced or new to the sport, everyone can enjoy and benefit from it. The sport is accessible, with aids and adaptations available to support people with disabilities, including specially designed equipment and accessible greens. To make this happen, it’s about creating welcoming spaces, offering the right support, and ensuring Clubs are equipped to cater to all participants. We are committed to making Crown Green Bowls as inclusive as possible, with resources and plans to help Clubs create an environment that welcomes everyone.

Coaching

Coaching is crucial in Crown Green Bowls, especially for new players looking to improve their skills. A qualified Coach provides tailored advice, helping players refine their technique, understand the game, and build confidence. To get a Coach for your Club, it’s important to offer the right training and support to passionate individuals.

A qualified Coach adds great value by developing players and fostering a positive atmosphere where everyone can thrive. We are here to assist Clubs with coaching development and provide resources to help bring qualified Coaches on board.

Recruitment

Attracting new members is essential for the growth and sustainability of Clubs. To grow membership, Clubs need to focus on outreach, offer engaging opportunities for beginners, and highlight the benefits of being part of the Crown Green Bowls community.

Creating a welcoming environment, hosting social events, and encouraging new bowlers to try the sport are key to success. It’s not just about adding numbers, but fostering long-term growth through a sustainable plan.

The BCGBA aim is to support Clubs by providing guidance, ideas, and resources to help attract and retain new members.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is crucial to ensure a safe, welcoming environment at Clubs for everyone, regardless of age or ability. It’s about creating a secure space for all participants to enjoy the sport. Proper safeguarding starts with clear policies and trained volunteers, and making sure everyone feels safe and supported.

We are here to help Clubs implement safeguarding practices to ensure a positive experience for all members.

Communication

Good communication is key to a successful Club. Whether updating members on events, informing new players about matches, or sharing Club news, clear communication is essential. The first step is ensuring everyone knows where to find information, whether through newsletters, noticeboards, or social media. Social media is a powerful tool for reaching a wider audience, keeping your Club visible, engaged, and connected.

Let us help you to improve communication by offering guidance on using these tools effectively, from setting up social media accounts to creating clear communication channels, ensuring your Club runs smoothly.
