Grants & Funding for Bowls

Introduction:

Trying to get funding for your club either for development projects or maintenance works is an interesting challenge. Much of the success or failure of this activity is the ability to sell your club in the knowledge of what a potential funding organisation is looking for, and ensuring you tick those boxes.

Crown Green Bowls as a sport has some excellent advantages over other sports due to its wide age demographic, the ease it can accommodate many disabilities and its community spirit.

Good Governance & Documented Development Plans are often essentials for funders.

Sport England - Movement Fund

In April 2024 Sport England launched its Movement Fund, designed to streamline the process of applying for funding from them.

The Movement Fund offers from £300 up to £15,000 for physical activity projects in the community. The focus is on people who face barriers to activity and projects designed to help them.

Key to these principals are those on low incomes, disabled people or those living with long term health issues and the elderly.

National Lottery - Community Fund

The National Lottery provide funding for projects that bring people together to build strong relationships and improve communities in England & Wales. You can apply for a grant of between £300 and £20,000 for projects lasting up to 2 years.

They fund projects that:

  • bring people together to build strong relationships in and across communities
  • improve the places and spaces that matter to communities
  • help more people to reach their potential, by supporting them at the earliest possible stage
  • support people, communities and organisations facing more demands and challenges because of the cost-of-living crisis

'My Funding Central'

My Funding Central is an easy-to-use online funding search tool designed for charities, voluntary organisations, community groups and social enterprises.

It helps you quickly find grants and funding opportunities from local, national and international sources — all in one place.

Subscriptions start from £50 per year, and it is free for organisations with an annual turnover of up to £30,000, making it ideal for many Crown Green Bowling clubs.

Provided by Idox, the team behind GrantFinder (one of the UK and Europe’s leading funding databases), My Funding Central offers a simple and reliable way to search for funding that suits your club’s needs.
